Ethos

Fat and the Moon, at its core, is about healing:

Healing is reflected in the way we choose to do business, in right relationship with people and plants. We work with plants that are abundant, ethically harvested and organically cultivated and combine them in formulations that are radically non-toxic. Our priority is to use reusable, recyclable containers, and to minimize superfluous packaging.

Healing is reflected in our wholehearted support of Self Care and Self Love which stands in opposition to the pervasive message that something is inherently wrong with us, and that we need a product to fix it. We see the beauty in all bodies, all backgrounds, all ethnicities, all races and all genders. Our potions are mediums of empowerment through self care.

Healing is in the intimate connection we have with our products; each one is handmade to order by one of our incredible makers, and sent to you by our badass shippers. We provide nourishing products because we are nourished by making them.

Hand-crafted to Order

We are a small, handmade-to-order business. The formulating, production, marketing and shipping of Fat and the Moon potions all happen under one roof. While we are growing stronger, taller, broader, leafier, we do this by staying true to our human form. Translation: we are not Amazon. Please cultivate patience, doing so gives the whole world a little peace. Convenience cloaks hidden costs. The eating, sleeping, vacationing, resting and enjoying of FM employees are additional ingredients which make your potions actually magical.

Sustainability

As witches, we aim for the stars so we can change the world. While we are implementing sustainable practices as a baseline, we don’t get comfy there. ‘Regeneration’ is the more active term we can get behind, and to be a regenerative entity, we have to stay on our toes. At Fat and the Moon, we let our commitment to more aligned materials, suppliers, practices, and systems lead our way.

Our packaging is an ingredient, and so are the shipping materials and production practices of Fat and the Moon. Our Coven takes cold hard looks at every detail of impact. Waste does not exist in non-human nature, everything is food for something else; since this is the standard we are aiming for, we always fall short. That’s what keeps us going.

Ingredients

Fat and the Moon ingredients are sourced from farmers, humans and businesses that align with Earth First ethos and values.  We see the direct and powerful bond between plants and farmers. We are so honored to be able to work with both the plant beings and the farmers they’ve grown, because they literally are a part of the magic infused in each FM potion.⁣⁣⁣

Packaging

Eco-Shipping

Our priority is to use reusable, recyclable containers, and to minimize superfluous packaging. We are constantly evolving our choices for aligned packaging and shipping companies and materials. ⁣ One thing we can guarantee: no plastic— ever. We use:

-Recyclable box made of post consumer material

-Biodegradable and recyclable tape

-Reusable and recyclable tissue paper

-Reused and recyclable packing paper

We love to partner, amplify and collaborate with other people and organizations who are doing life affirming, justice seeking, skill reclaiming and heart centered work. Our community is magic. Farmers, herbalists, artists, makers, shippers, and even sister businesses come together to support the entity that is Fat and the Moon. We are able to provide nourishing products because we are nourished by humans making them.
